How thermal energy works
Thermal Energy Storage

Our blocks consist of a material invented specifically for thermal storage called aMiscibility Gap Alloy (MGA). MGA Blocks are used in Thermal Energy Storage Systems (TESS) which deliver sustained high-temperature heat or electricity that is safe, low cost, sustainable, and high capacity.

Reliable heat delivery

An MGA TESS is sized for the specific application and storage blocks are added to increase duration. Given the cost effectiveness of the blocks, large implementations can support very long durations, providing reliable heat for industrial processes that require constant supply of heat and steam.

Minimal need for expensive capital equipment

Energy generation is possible using standard turbine technology. When configured in a hybrid system providing steam and generation, an MGA TESS remains a highly efficient solution.

Transition and decarbonise

Long duration also supports the transition from existing fossil fuel based solutions to renewable energy. This can significantly improve the emissions profile of large emitters.

Many of our customer discussions are with companies that qualify for the Safeguard mechanism and have an urgent need to transition and decarbonise. MGA supports these objectives with zero-carbon energy storage.
